The Intelligent Transportation Society of Wisconsin Scholarship Award is presented annually to students pursuing transportation operations in their studies and career aspirations. The scholarship is intended to provide partial financial support to students who have demonstrated an interest and are likely to work in a transportation-related field. The scholarship consists of a $1,500 award that is to be used to offset educational costs.
The Great Lakes Transportation Enterprise Institute (GLTEI) Scholarship Award is for students pursuing transportation operations in their studies, with an emphasis on academic excellence, service to the community, and leadership. The scholarship consists of a $1,000 award that is to be used to offset educational costs.
Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be enrolled full time for the current academic year in a bachelors or masters (not doctorate) program at a Wisconsin college or university with course work and transportation-related career goal emphasis in engineering, planning, economics, public administration, public policy or transportation technology.
Applications must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation or nomination from a faculty member. No family member of any ITS Wisconsin board member is eligible to apply for or receive this scholarship award. A student can win the award only once.
Selection Criteria
Upon nomination, candidates will be evaluated on the basis of:
- Academic performance, including transportation emphasis
- Education plans and career goals, with preference toward transportation
- Extracurricular activities
- Statement of interest
- GLTEI (added emphasis on community service and leadership)
Terms and Conditions
The winners of the ITS Wisconsin Scholarship Awards will be announced at the at the ITS Wisconsin Transportation Conference on Thursday, October 29, 2020. This year’s conference will be virtual. A check will be issued after the ITS Wisconsin Transportation Conference upon presentation of proof of enrollment in a full-time program conforming to stated educational objectives.
How to Apply
To apply for the ITS Wisconsin Scholarship Award and GLTEI Scholarship Award, download the form available here, provide the information listed, and submit the completed application to the ITS Wisconsin Scholarship Committee no later than Friday, October 16, 2020. Only one application is required to be considered for both scholarships. Awards will be given to two individuals, no one person will be awarded both scholarships.
