ITS Wisconsin 2023 Project of the Year

East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), presented to Mike Zabel (HNTB) and David Locher (Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS))

Milwaukee County and its transit authority, MCTS, have been working since 2015 to plan, design, and implement Wisconsin’s first BRT project and to secure a $40.9 million Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Small Starts grant agreement. The route enhances transit along the region’s most vital, most traveled, and most congested east-west corridor, and plays a critical role in advancing the region’s multimodal transportation system in a cost-effective manner that supports economic development.

ITS Wisconsin 2022 Project of the Year

The 2022 ITS WI Project of the Year Award was presented to Wisconsin DOT, Strand Associates, Arcadis IBI Group, and HNTB Corporation for the Establishment of the Madison Beltline Flex Lane.

ITS Wisconsin 2021 Project of the Year

The 2021 ITS WI Project of the Year Award was presented to City of Madison, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Traffic and Parking Control Company for the Establishment of the Park Street Connected Corridor project

ITS Wisconsin 2020 Project of the Year

The 2020 ITS WI Project of the Year Award was presented to the City of Madison Traffic Engineering team for the Active Traffic Management System project.

ITS Wisconsin 2019 Project of the Year

The 2019 ITS WI Project of the Year Award was presented to the Wisconsin DOT Bureau of Traffic Operations in collaboration with IBI Group for the Wisconsin inSIGHT Advanced Traffic Management System.

ITS Wisconsin 2018 Project of the Year

The ITS Wisconsin Project of the Year was awarded to the Wisconsin Truck Parking Information Management System. Randy Hoyt, Project Manager, received the award from Ahmet Demirbilek, ITS WI Chapter President, at the 2018 ITS Transportation Conference at the Monona Terrace.
